Planning a trip to Rome and are concerned about the well-being of your Pet Society pet? Don't worry, our apartments are Pet Society friendly.

Pet Society
The pet of Facebook user robottomatospace.

Please note that we’re not talking about old fashioned pets in flesh, blood and… fur. The question people are asking themselves is what will happen to their virtual pet they tend to with love, affection and perhaps a little bit too much much time on Facebook’s Pet Society.

Don’t know what Pet Society is?

Maybe it’s for the best. In a nutshell, it’s as digital pet that you need to feed, clothe, wash and entertain. The more you do the more gold coins you earn to… do more of the same. Pets have made on to the property ladder and own houses that they can furnish as they please. Still confused? Have a look at this YouTube clip. Better still, give it a go.

Rome Rentals Co. is Pet Society friendly!

Meet robottomatospace. She is a Royal Pet (level 31) that recently stayed 5 days at Apartment Paradiso in Campo de’ Fiori, thoroughly enjoying her time away from online:

This was the first time away from Pet Society and into the real world. I loved Apartment Paradiso… it was so charming! But I did miss my soap bar and the Mystery Boxes I’m addicted to. But I must admit that shopping in Rome is great… I got a good exchange rate for my gold coins

robottomatospace sent us this picture when she got back to her own place:

Sorting out your internet access

City Apartments prefer to work with apartment owners that offer broadband connections in their properties. When this is not the case we can let you know where there closest internet cafe. Just let us know when you book your apartment. We wouldn’t want you to miss your pet too much (and we know that if you don’t wash them frequently enough they start to smell).

They called it operation 'Movida Sicura' and was aimed at establishing an 'emotional climate of trust and respect between residents, visitors and the police'.

The idea is for law enforcement officers to patrol hot-spot areas but not in an aggressive way, their presence acting as a deterrent and to send out a message of pro-active policing.

Last Saturday Dino Gasperini, representing Rome council and Cesarino Caioni, head of the Vigili Urbani (traffic police) met up at 11pm in Campo de’ Fiori to see for themselves what the area looks like when all the kids are out and about drinking beer. Perhaps they were inspired by the words of the La Terrina fountain there: Do well and let them talk, as far as the policing strategy is concerned.

This is good news for the city. Not that street violence was ever a big problem. In this day and age that ‘security’ is a big issue at every level – from terrorist attacks to padlocking your bicycle – more policing is certainly welcome.

The areas of Rome that are covered by operation ‘Movida Sicura’ are Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona, Testaccio, Trastevere and the ZTL area (area of the historic centre you can only access by car if you have a permit).

It makes perfect sense to find a shop selling unique clothes in Via dei Giubbonari, the 'street of tailors'.

Momento
A selection of shoes, handbags and tops.

Momento is located at the bottom end of Via dei Giubbonari in Piazza Cairoli Benedetto and specialises in selling classy items of ladies wear to those who prefer a more original look than what you get in big brand shops – the ones you find in Via Frattina, for example.

Momento sells dresses, skirts, coats, accessories and jewelry designed in a more elaborate way and using materials that contrast from the fine and smooth lines of branded items.

The shop caters for both youthful and mature women and stocks items for casual wear and special occasions.

Wise words are inscribed on Campo de' Fiori's main fountain - La Terrina.

Campo de' Fiori in an old plate
Campo de' Fiori 200 years ago: market life and the death gallows, and no church to be seen.

La Terrina was once used to provide water to cattle and was located in the middle of the campo – the field. It was moved elsewhere and a new fountain placed to the side, which now it provides a resting place for tired folk to sit on and relax. The inscription is still readable: Fa del bene e lassa dire.

Campo de’ Fiori: a place without much religion

There are no churches at Campo de’ Fiori and no palazzi either. Giordano Bruno, a 16th Century philosopher, was burned at the stake as a heretic by the Roman Inquisition.

These days a little violence persists as groups of youngsters, often soccer fanatics, congregate and to what they’re best: act like idiots. A little bit of religion would do them good, as would following the wisdom of the fountain:

“Do well and let them talk”

This is what the inscription means. Someone should remind trouble-makers (whether powerful organisations or bored youth) about it.

Don’t be put off by this article, though. Campo de’ Fiori, like the rest of Rome, is very safe. If anything, be aware of Campo de’ Fiori’s past and present to appreciate it more.
