View Caravaggio masterpieces in Villa Borghese, the church of Santa Maria del Popolo and the French national church in Rome.
Within the wonderful park of Villa Borghese is the former home of the Borghese family and now the Museo and Galleria Borghese. Numerous masterpieces have been despayed in its wonderful and richly decorated rooms and here we can admire six paintings of the great artist.
The church of Santa Maria del Popolo is one of the more peaceful churches in the city and houses a pair of Caravaggio masterpieces, namely the Crucifixion of St Peter and the Conversion of St Paul.
The French national church in Rome, houses the Contarelli Chapel which contains Caravaggio’s first public commission: a cycle of paintings depicting scenes from the life of St Mattew, which the rebellious genius painted for this chapel in 1597 and 1603.
